Accredited MBA Programs - What are They?

Any international accreditation is honorable, but we would like to mention the accreditation of AMBA (The headquarters of this organization is located in the UK). AMBA accreditation currently is given to 161 schools in 72 countries. AMBA is among 3 most influential in the world international accreditations, along with AACSB (USA) and EQUIS (Belgium). Their authority is checked in time, and accredited educational institutions by them, as a rule, are world-renowned brands.

How Accredited MBA programs Differ from Others?

AMBA accreditation is given for a certain period. 5 years is a maximum, after which the MBA School should go through the whole procedure again.

What gives accreditation to graduates, employers and business school?
 

Do you think that you will face rigid requirements at entry to prestigious MBA program? In India over 200 000 applicants compete at entry on 1600 places of elite MBA programs  of IIMs institute  (Indian Institute of Management). These programs are not presented in the international ratings. Mainly they serve as an initial step for the Indian students-engineers who wish to be trained in management and the finance.

But there is one MBA program in India which is considered a player of a world scene is Indian School of Business in Hyberadad. In spite of the fact that this business school is not accredited yet, this one-year program occupies 20th place in the world, according to rating of Financial Times. And this school settles down in one of the most technically grounded cities of Asia. If you are a student from another country, there can be a place for you, and some monetary grant.

Why students from other countries?

ISB School, as well as any other MBA-program, wishes to give to students  international experience in conditions of interaction of various cultures. Last year on a course from 438 students, 4 % were foreigners from Spain,  Great Britain, Canada, Mauritius and Nepal. In the past on the program students from the USA, Pakistan also were trained, Germany and Italy.

ISB recently has increased quantity of grants which the school gives to foreign students. There are two types of grants:
 

Today we still feel consequences of the economic crisis and some destabilization of economy. During crisis many people have lost job, or their salaries were reduced. Each organization tries to cut down expenditure by various ways. Therefore during such time everyone should try to increase the knowledge in professional sphere. But for a working person it is practically impossible to receive, for example, one more higher education by traditional, full-time way. Therefore distance training through the Internet becomes practically ideal for such a worker. It has already ceased to be an interesting novelty and now is considered simply as one more way to receive new knowledge and skills.
 

In the majority of MBA schools  it is very difficult to get in. A competition for places at the best schools is very rigid. On the average, about 15 % of interested persons enter good school, and at some schools this percent is even less. One of the ways to distinguish yourself is  a letter of recommendation.
The first step is to decide whom you will ask to write it. The majority of MBA schools  demands as a minimum one letter from the head of your current place of job. Other letters of recommendation can be written by your former heads, teachers - it depends how long time ago you were graduated, or how much heads you had. These letters should describe your strengths and virtues accurately. It is better to choose people with good feeling of language as badly written letter indirectly influences and impression about you.

The second step is to give to yours recommendators enough time. The majority of people enter some schools so there are many different deadlines. Organise this information for yours recommendator, and give him at least one month of time for letter preparation is will give him a chance to write a good, strong letter.
 

Competition on foreign training is not always high. For example, in IREX it usually exceeds 10 persons for a place, and in the presidential program makes no more than three persons. Despite the fact that  some American and European organizations co-operate with regional high schools, the wireless telegraph (lecturers speaking another language inform on competitions or those who has already visited on training) operates. Organizers of the presidential program have found money for small movies in mass-media and "external" advertising. At last, thre is data of competitions on the Internet.

At the same time activity of funds in distribution of the information about free MBA courses or free education all the same leaves much to be desired. Besides not everybody dares to submit documents on competition among those  who knows about it and corresponds to criteria. Grants are calculated basically on representatives of small regions, and in a province there is  a stereotype that competition is a  simple formality, all the same money is everything and only students from local Univercities can count on them.
 

To get on free training abroad, it is necessary to correspond first of all to formal requirements (age, education, a work place and so forth). There are also other,  formalities: a recommendation from a teacher (employer), sometimes the characteristics. In most cases it is necessary to know  foreign languages (however, the British council sends to English courses to the Great Britain at public expense all those who are under all criteria for grant reception of «Chevening», but badly knows language). If  language question is OK, everything is all right to pass selection, it is just a trick. Well and, of course, luck.

At all stages of competition, except for the formalized tests (for example, TOEFL for study in America) the candidate should explain first of all why he wishes to go to this country on this program and how it will be reflected in its further career. To answer these questions, it is not necessary to be extremely smart. Therefore competitions are won unessentially by thoses who regularly received excellent grades at university and who has presented the best plan of work abroad (it is required from trainees, for example, of DAAD). Grants are won by the people, managed to make the best impression upon the members of  commission. Are for this purpose a ready tongue is needed, ability to manipulate with the facts and in general possession of technics of effective communications.

Silly errors are inadmissible. It is impossible to say, for example, that, having learnt in the USA or the Great Britain, you wish to stay there forever (an obligatory condition of stipendial programs is homecoming). But there are "pearls" which for certain will provide good feeling of you. So, Englishmen should say, that it's better to get free MBA course in  Great Britain as study lasts for a year, instead of two, as in the United States (for Americans the same argument on the contrary will be fine). Any commission will be delighted, if the examinee gives examples from own life in which he showed his ledership prectices. Or he will show excellent geographic erudition - for example, will declare, that the best juridical education in the world is given in Oxford, therefore he wishes to go there.
 

To study abroad, it is unessential to spend ten thousand dollars from the pocket.
Money for study can be received in private or state welfare funds.

Rich choice

The basic source of grants for international citizens is grants of the foreign governments. Most of all stipendium programs for all the countries in the world  the government of the USA offers, and candidates are selected by some organizations, including the American councils on the international education, the International council on scientific researches and exchanges (IREX), Institute of the international education. In Russia free contests are carried out, also open competitions appear in Germany (the majority of programs administers DAAD - German service of the academic exchanges), the Great Britain (the British council), Sweden and other countries of Europe.

Grants are given also by the private funds having representations in different countries. The international program of grants is in Ford's Fund - grant-aided students are selected by Institute of the international education. DAAD distributes grants of various private funds of Germany. Having addressed to the British council, it is possible to receive a grant from the oil company «British Petroleum». The institute «Open society» (Soros fund) finances training at the Central European university in Budapest.
