Last year when I only came to school and was the "green" beginner worrying in each occasion, students of the second year assured me, that next year study begins much easier.
I did not trust, but now I can precisely tell, that they were right. There are not less subjects, requirements of teachers have not decreased, simple at I received an invaluable experience of training in business school.
Therefore my first advice to beginners is following: do not be frightened by pressure, learn to take it easy. The second year will be much better.
You know, I even had a style and understanding of that how it is necessary to study. I recognise, some key disciplines caused me a lot of discontent and problems as my previous experience was not connected at all with mathematics and statistics.
This year we choose subjects, and it allows us to consider problems already on macro level, applying all the knowledge which we have received in the first year of training. For example, it was difficult to me to understand some theoretical moments in the finance, but, having put them into practice once, all became clear.
The second advice: try to gain as much as possible knowledge in the first year . Do not try to structure it at once and don't be afraid of some musunderstandings in your head - it will disappear as soon as you start to put knowledge into practice.
Interesting feeling: on the second year of training all parts of knowledge which somehow huddled in my head and were absolutely disconnected among themselves, have suddenly incorporated in something organic. Now I with pride can tell, that I understand something in the finance!
There is my last semestre, I search for work in sphere of realtor affairs. Unfortunately, my summer practice was very far from it as I worked in the field of the general management and marketing - and if it is fair, it was my failure. On the second week of practice I understood, that such work is completely not interesting to me. It appeared, I wish to be engaged in realtor business.
The third advice: before entrance to business school be defined, in what sphere you wish to build the future career. So it will be much easier to realise all dreams and the purposes.
I was extraordinary glad to learn, that business school can help with realisation of my professional desire. Unfortunately, in Stern there is no specialisation interesting for me, but there is a program in NYU's Real Estate Institute, allowing students to seize bases of such specific trade.
I also have found work on Wall Street and now I am proud I am Real Estate Credit Analyst. I think, it will help me in further. By the way, this year I started to prosecute seriously this subjects - to improve my knowledge, to fill any blanks. In general, perfection process has gone! |
