TOEFL is your chance to receive higher education in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the USA. It is the international test developed by ETS Educational Testing Service in Princeton University, the USA. Purpose TOEFL is to estimate level of English language for people whose native language is not English. Many pass TOEFL to enter 240 universities in the USA and Canada, and set of colleges in other English-speaking countries. Business structures and 150 countries of the world accept certificates TOEFL. It is used for an estimation of level of English language by the governmental structures, the international organisations which are giving out educational grants and many licensing and certifying by organisations worldwide. Certificates TOEFL are accepted also in the Great Britain, there are four working TOEFL-centres.
Be attentive! Results of TOEFL are valid only within two years. Test
delivery costs from 125 to 150 dollars, depending on the centre where
you pass it.
The test itself is not so difficult, but some questions can be uneasy
enough. Even if you perfectly speak English, you all the same will need
to get used to structure of TOEFL because not a lot of people
successfully pass it from the first time. You need to practise, study
much to answer questions of TOEFL and to repeat themes with which you
have complexities.
Till 1998 all passed over paper, standard TOEFL. The test consisted of
three parts: audition, grammar and reading. It was maximum possible to
receive 677 points. Since July, 1998 all candidates pass new computer
non-standard TOEFL. Its maximum quantity of points is equaled to 300
(there are special tables for correlation of old and new points). The
obligatory test in written English was added. First two parts of the
test became adaptive - that is complexity of the test began to depend
on your abilities. It allows to save time, but simple questions give
you less points. |
