At the highly competitive markets MBA-clones are a clear and immediate threat to the competitiveness of companies they work for. Many staff members attend the same program MBA, studying the same books, read the same newspapers and magazines, and going to the same seminars and master classes. Standardization of MBA programs leads to the same professional approach and managerial thinking of their graduates. It also defines the vocabulary and the plans of the business media and training activities. Therefore, many managers now turn to MBA-clones.

The result is that these managers have to compete with each other and create the very differences that give consumers reason to choose one brand rather than another, use the same data, the same conduct focus groups and draw conclusions from similar studies with the same methods, using the same concepts and approaches to create products and brands. Naturally, most of the products and brands, even in the end seem to be identical to the consumer.

Not all graduates of the MBA – MBA-clones. But they surely are at risk. However, even if you are a clone of the MBA, it is completely curable.

The reverse process is possible and fairly painless. It not only makes you free, but will also allow administering wonders on highly competitive markets. You can even take advantage of the situation of the MBA-clones and reach advantage – because your customers will be delighted by differentiation, and your competitors can not imitate it.

The process of “de-cloning” includes an awareness of its MBA-thinking and, therefore, awareness and acceptance of the fact that it is not absolutely true, but only one way of interpreting of business reality and activity in the market.

The popular concept of “think beyond” (in this case, the line – this is a typical way of thinking MBA) especially will not help you. You need to train in the use of alternative concepts, using the appropriate tools. By doing this, you will soon find that your views are wider and your managerial skills dramatically improved.

MBA with over the years is undergoing significant changes, along with the styles and structures of governance. Today, the best MBA programs are paying less attention to theories of management, and more – leadership skills. This trend began in the late 1990s and continues to gain momentum, as more and more companies recognize – the way the company communicates with employees, it is extremely important to get the desired results.

Time of fierce competition and management deemed inhumane. More and more modern international corporations choose a kind and gentle approach to the management and conduct of business. In response to growing interest in individual leadership as an important component of a good manager, some MBA programs revise their curricula to focus more on individual skills of leadership and personal growth on a par with the theory and practice of management. Such changes in MBA allow them more accurately meet the needs of students.

These innovative MBA programs offer much more than reading textbooks and examination cases. Examples of real-world use of acquired skills and cooperation with business leaders in various industries – that are concentrated on what these programs. They teach students that the foundation for successful team management is to understand ourselves and attention to each particular person in a team or company.

Too many companies become more successful as a result of such programs and, therefore, already have such programs Executive MBA, which are tailored to the needs of busy people. Classes are held primarily online, but also include a meeting and “in real life”, usually lasting about a week, at which all students meet for an intensive group training.

MBA idea is very simple, and probably that is why it is so popular: self education can also be used in advanced business education. But this concept has so many gaps.

All of us – not stupid people, and know that we can buy all these books that need to be read for an MBA or something like that, but why do not everyone run to the shops? And the reason is that ordinary people (in the sense of “not genius”) simply do not possess the necessary skills to learn it all themselves. We can wade in good faith the book, but the outcome of this activity will be much less than if we studied it in the classroom with teachers and other students. So perhaps our entire educational system (not just the business school), from primary school to university works this way for hundreds of years.

Self education- is not a bad thing, but it works only under certain conditions. First, it only works for items such as mathematics, physics or other sciences – in short, all knowledge, where you do not need to interact with other people, you just need to learn specific theories and learn how to use them. But any knowledge where you can interact with other people and experience (not just books) is not acquired through self-education.

In the second, even in these things, if you are really talented, you do not need a teacher. But this works only for very gifted people who can learn by simply reading a book, and which do not need anyone to explain what they do not understand, do not need tests and explain what they did wrong and what areas they need to improve. For ordinary people, it just does not work. Sounds great, but it does not work. Personal MBA – it’s not MBA, that’s all.

If you have not heard about Josh Kaufman’s Personal MBA, then you have missed growing trend of entrepreneurship in education. Personal MBA – is a series of books that can broaden your knowledge of the business for a small fraction of the cost of this program of MBA, and without attending classes.

Josh, who once motivated Seth Godin, has created a manifesto in which he described 42 books and periodicals. He argues that investing time and some effort to use these resources people will understand the business better and improve their efficiency at work.

All this is part of growing trend – talented professionals take learning into their own hands, and play by their rules. These people are usually more adventurous than the average person, but he could benefit from reading even a part of these books and use new knowledge and skills in the workplace.

As the real MBA program, Personal MBA is much more valuable if it is combined with experience in business and life experiences. Josh says that “two thirds of your training will be a direct result of daily work, which provides the necessary context for understanding what you read.”

It is already clear that people are less willing to leave work and spend several years raising their education. Increasingly, people continue to work full time, devoting most of his free time either getting a traditional MBA degree remotely, or something completely new, as the Personal MBA.

You may have several years of experience and excellent scores on the GMAT, but you also need to have a decent profile to get into top business schools anywhere. What is a good MBA Profile?

Experience: it show growth in your career, to justify your goals / solutions, your independence and desire to grow. The more experience you have, the better. If you worked in senior positions, you have even more chances.

Complex situation: where you find yourself in life and at work, and how well you solved them. If you have gone through fire and water, and you still have a balanced career, it says in your favor. Complex situations really make you a better person. This will decorate your essay, but you will need proof of your story.

Variety: cultural, social, technological – all skills are valued. Of course, too much jumping from one job to another is saying about instability and uncertainty. But a more wide-ranging experience in the profession, international experience will make your profile very appealing.

Volunteering: activity in public service and charity are always highly valued. Even if you just donated blood, or swept the yard, it still gives extra points to your profile.

Sports: it makes your personality more consistent. Individual sports are good, but skills in team modes show you the positive side, it’s an important quality of a future manager. And if you still have a team captain, your rating will fly at once.

Languages: a very important point of your resume. Knowing more than one language will give you an advantage over other candidates.

Entrepreneurship: never tried to do your own business? If you try, it says a lot about you. Even if the attempt was unsuccessful, it is important that you wanted to enter the world of business and gained valuable experience.

Since obtaining an online degree has become popular in distance education, most schools are competing for the best quality of their programs to attract students. However, since such programs are too many, here the top of 15 online-MBA programs on the basis of reputation, structure, career opportunities, and investment in training.

Instituto de Empresa in Madrid – is one of the best schools for English- and Spanish- speaking students. Study from anywhere in the world is made possible by virtual lecturers and video conferencing. Students should arrive at the meeting in different cities. There are many opportunities for the establishment of useful links. Students from 48 countries can share experiences and knowledge in various fields.

Thunderbird School of Global Management and Duke University of USA are respectively the second and the third place. There are students from such companies as Coca-Cola and Boeing. Tuition fees range from $ 57,000 to $ 95,000.Thunderbird School won first place among international programs by ratings of US News, World Report, Financial Times and The Wall Street Journal.

Manchester Business School in the UK offering MBA study remotely, combining it with the master classes of one-on-one, costing about $ 30 000 and is fourth in the rankings. Place from fifth to tenth occupied universities in the U.S. – Indiana University (offers MBA in General Management), Pennsylvania State University, University of Florida (offers MBA in Internet technology), Babson College (offers Fast Track MBA), University of Massachusetts-Amherst (second place in the ranking of Best Overall Academic Experience) and The George Washington University (MBA offers health management for professionals working in this field).

The next five lines of the ranking are occupied by Walden University (one of the ten best online programs, according to US News, World Report and Financial Times), University of Phoenix (MBA offers with an emphasis on leadership and management skills), Western Governers University, DeVry University and Jones International University.

Despite the fact that almost all MBA programs are very similar, we should not forget that the ratings are not adapted to your personal needs and simply evaluate certain parameters on certain criteria.

Recently more and more universities offer distance or remote obtaining of MBA program for working students. During training, they will have to write a lot of tasks for self-assessment, and getting high scores. There are a few tips on writing tasks for MBA:

Practical learning: to write a good task, students need to study a course in practice. This happens during the debate and discussion with friends. If a student is regularly read magazines or research on the subject, it also can be transformed into knowledge practices. Only the theory is not enough, you need to understand how to use it in practice.

Online learning: it is becoming increasingly important in the Internet era. Many blogs and websites offer presentations, book reviews, discussions and personal views on various issues. Ask blog search on your topic, and you’ll be surprised how many people can say interesting things.

Discussion forums: to write an effective task for a course on management, forums can be a very good platform for discussion of ideas and the final chapters of textbooks. A student can get a lot of material in this way, and to improve their task.

Education in the classroom: if a student can visit the “traditional” class on a specific issue, it can be very helpful in thinking in similar assignments. “Live” talk with the teacher and students, spontaneously arising thoughts, writing for further deliberation and analysis – it all helps in quality performance.

Assignments for MBA focused on maximum disclosure and identify the potential and talent of the student, so do not neglect them, try to fulfill them as best as possible.

If you are interested in learning MBA, you need to apply in advance to increase your chances for admission. Then time comes when the business school will announce who was and who got into the MBA short list. If you are in a short list (waiting list), you probably wonder what else you can expect in the process of trying to revenues MBA.

Stay in the short list – one of the most annoying classes in the world. Many people simply throw up their hands, having ascertained that they were in the waiting list, and decide that they simply are not designed for the MBA. This is a normal reaction, and although you have the right to be angry and irritated, do not let it distracts you. You worked hard for a while to get to a specific program of MBA, and getting into the short-list need not be the end of the world.

Once in the waiting list, you need to start looking at all the business schools. If one of them did not want to take you, it does not mean that others will take the same decision. Likely, you can still apply in another place and do, or at least to plan your admission to the next time that you were sure that will get at least one seat. Availability of Plan B is important for you to know that the next time you will not get into a waiting list.

You should look at what is happening positively. If you are in the waiting list if someone refuses to study, you will be able to take their place. It also means that the next time you do not repeat their mistakes, proceed to the selected program and finish it. Do not give up after falling in the short list – it’s just a delay on your path, and though the future may seem uncertain, you will need to be patient and continue to work to achieve your goal.

Many people who want to get an MBA and pass GMAT for this, curious about how the system earn points for GMAT questions, and whether it somehow adjusts (if not to deceive it).

“Raw” calculations for the creators of the GMAT scoring will not be published. A goal of the test – is to give consistent results from year to year. In other words, 650 points was earned a year ago, are supposed to be equal to 650 points from today. To accomplish this, the “raw” scores on the sections constantly vary in relation to the associated percentile.

For example, the average scores for math assignments last few years grow, and now you need to get the 51 “raw” score to get the 99 percentile, and 48 “raw” score now meets only 87 percentile. For comparison, in the verbal section of between 99 percentile (score 45) and 87 percentiles (about 38) – seven points difference.

Because these variations of “adjust” scores do not publicize the public, the only reliable way to monitor such variations in assessment – to use monitoring actual test results. There is special software that continuously monitors and takes into account all the fluctuations to provide an accurate assessment of points.

It is important to know that there is no simple relation between the numbers of correct answers in a particular section of GMAT and total cumulative score. Each question in each section has its own unique factor and the answers to the first questions in each section have more “weigh” than the following questions. Questions on the account typically have a higher coefficient than the issues to work with textual information.

Students are also worth considering that the cumulative score is calculating in increments of ten points. Therefore, the difference between 690 and 700 points – is just a tick in the answer. This difference could be attributed to the different number of correct answers, but this is not always the case. 10 points – such a narrow border in the cumulative score for the GMAT, that the order of your incorrect answers may be the decisive reason that you get 690, not 700.

For example, if you incorrectly answer the question on three texts near the end of this section, or miss the same three questions in the middle of the test, your second result could easily be 10 points lower. This is another reason why students should pay more attention to the first question in the section.

Scoring Algorithm for GMAT – is complex and confusing. But an understanding of the foundations on which calculation is based, it helps for preparation, and when taking test.

You may find strange the advice to practice writing an essay in the middle of the process of document preparation, but practice – is the only effective strategy to master this skill. That practice teaches you to keep the number of words, themes, structure – and this is very important in writing an essay.

Your final product will always be relevant to the starting point. Think of the improvement that occurs in the process, how about a guaranteed result, only a limited starting point. Simply, the practice and training can improve your score by two points from the original – if the first time you write an essay on the deuce, in the end you will be able to write an essay on a solid four.

So what do you do? Of course, try the first to write an essay at least three! Read the essays of other people for example and then practice, practice, practice!

What will help you workout? Here are 3 reasons to learn how to write an essay:

Improving efficiency. There is nothing worse than to sit down to write an essay of 400 words to pour out his heart in the draft and to understand what you wrote 150 more words. If you exercise to write so as not to exceed the limits, you will be able to write briefly to express his thoughts and fewer words.
Sharpening. The more you write an essay on the standard themes, the clearer you will be able to write an essay, which then you will submit to an admissions committee. Answering the same question in different ways, or writing up the same in different words – a great way to really understand the reasons for which you want to enroll in business school. If you understand your motivation, you will be able to describe its selection committee, and your responses will not be feigned, and labored, but clear and sincere.
More comfort in writing of the text in the name of the first person. One of the biggest problems in the essays of candidates – they are not “portrait” writing their rights. Almost every sentence is uncomfortable with the use of “I”. After all, we always encourage not using the pronoun when we write something. But personal essay – is a case where the use of “I” is imperative. Indeed, in the end, it’s your story!
