The answer: this year we have employed about 5 % MBA both for the period of practice, and on a permanent job. The answer: In the majority of our programs (departments) we have two-level process of an estimation. The first stage is on a campus. It is as a rule, interview between two representatives of business departments of Citigroup, and also potential candidate of MBA. It is interview face to face.
In Europe, we also have the centre of an estimation of candidates, and it is something more than simply interview. For example, we can ask MBA holder to see a case example and  to prepare presentations with the answer or to take part in group work of a team. The majority of investment banks do the same. The only difficulty on this way is the moment of using similar approach in an estimation at business schools of the USA. Becausethis practice not so is extended among MBA as in Europe.

Question:  what achievements and personal qualities you search for in candidates?
The answer: as a rule, these are base abilities - ability to solve a problem, analytical skills. Besides, communicative abilities are very important, ability to work in a team to organise working process and to put priorities in work, and the most important thing is a huge motivation concerning a position on which you apply.
Case examples which we use as a rule are invented, however are based on real data and development scenarios - they display a real essence of the project over which potential candidate will work and on which it is estimated. All process of estimation of  candidates is carried out by experts specially prepared for this purpose.

Question: what the candidate should not do during such estimation?
The answer: Participation in the group projects, as a rule is very interesting. Obviously, many people try to make impression upon others - to leave the trace on all events. They can sometimes come too far, and can simply not listen to other's speaking. During interview ….they forget to listen, since they are very focused on their wish to pass successfully the interview.

Question: What are other differences between the processes of interviews in Europe and the USA?
The answer: We actively search for candidates with an additional profound knowledge of various languages. Very important for us to have in the future possibility to transfer the worker in other office in the world after he will work in our headquarters in London. Good knowledge of certain region or the country  will be also important. And also for  us «the transnational sight» is very important. It is very important to be able to adapt and freely to co-operate with a considerable quantity of people from all world, to respect their culture and customs,too.
Citigroup represents big "copper" in which representatives of various nationalities "are cooked". Hence, work in such company, is the big advantage to the potential candidate, if he searches for it.

Question:what  achievements is it necessary to emphasise or personal qualities to potential candidates who wish to work in Citigroup and in investment banks as a whole?
The answer: the Majority of our candidates comes from Europe, but have received a business education in the USA. We search for people who would like to work first of all in the European region in the nearest five years and can distinctly and convincingly explain why they wish to work here. They should show huge interest in work in financial sector, and also good knowledge in one of chosen fields of activity Citigroup should be visible.

Question: whether the graduate working in Europe may expect salary for the work at level of the expert of the same level only in New York?
The answer: Level of salaries is practically the same. Unfortunately I cannot name concrete figures.

Question: may the potential applicant for work in Citigroup  carry on negotiations concerning salary offered in Europe if he considers that he is worth more?
The answer: All candidates are considered as applicants for a position of a starting level, and will begin the work with training. We concern all workers equally, and working in a business environment, they can prove and show what they are worthy.

Question: How students from Europe differs from students from the American business schools?
The answer: it is difficult enough to answer your question, it depends on what concrete schools we compare.

Question: How the owner of MBA degree received not in top school can to compete with the graduate of top European school or business school of the USA?
The answer: In Europe, we historically hired less graduates of business schools than our colleagues from the USA, as consequence widely introduced program «advancements from level of an analyst». On a post of an analyst, they employ students directly from colleges and universities. We wish to advance on a career ladder our talented experts in the company, but we also employ owners of MBA from top business schools. We try to hold balance in this question.

In most cases, we cannot hire students of the first year directly from a bench. But in any case they should  declare earlier themselves having submitted  the resume.
